From somewhere in the middle of this year (probably 26th June 2015) the law is changing to force those who use premium telephone numbers to make potential callers aware of this.  This applies to 084, 087, 09 and 118 numbers, and they must clearly show the charges, the information being “in close proximity to the telephone number” in all cases.  Telephone charges are being defined in two elements – the charge made by the phone company and the “service charge”, which is split between the phone company and the telephone owner.  This “service charge” must be quantified, so that those who use the premium numbers know just how much extra they are paying, over and above the telephone company’s basic charge.

This information must be shown in all communications, including advertising and promotional material.
